Bikes : a convenient, fun and pleasant way to move around in Paris ! But, you didn't take your bike to come here... It's not a worry !
Indeed, since July of 2007, Paris's town hall put at everyone's disposal, a bike share service, called Vélib'.
This service includes by definition bikes, but also borders, endowed with a screen and with an intercom, and "bornettes" of tie of bikes.
Twenty trucks are in charge of regulating the distribution of bikes by moving them, especially at night or in the early hours, from saturated stations towards empty ones.
you can take your bike at a... Vélib's station, and you can drop it off at any other station !
Each station has a terminal that allows you to ask for the renting of a bike, to get informations on Vélib', or to contact an advisor. You can pay with your credit card because it's equipped with a payment terminal and it also allows you to get a subscription of short duration.
You can take passes from 1 to 7 days. In any case, you'll get your first 30 minutes for free, and you'll have to pay for the following ones (see prices here).
The bikes are fixed to points of attachment, called "bornettes".
The bikes are for every gender. They have three different speeds, a permanent lighting at the front and the back of the bike on dynamo and of a basket in front of the handlebars.
They also have an anti-theft device of supplement with key. It's enough to protect the bike for a short absence, like to get to a shop for example.
They can't be used by young children (minimum size : 150 cm) so it's not possible to get a subscription for a child under 14.
Each bike weighs 22,5 kg, which is relatively heavy.
Are there stations next to Rue Morère ?
Of course ! There are many of them, you can see them on the stations map (each station is indicated by a green bubble).
