In each cases, you must know that the territory covered by public transports is split in 5 zones :
- If you stay in Paris, you'll use zones 1 to 3.

Paris Visit Pass or Navigo discovery ?
It's very hard to compare those passes because there are too many parameters, which are different from one formula to another...
For example :
- Children. Children from 4 to 12 years old get a cost reduction with Paris Visit Pass, but not with Navigo Discovery.
- Period of use. Paris Visit Pass can start on whichever day of the week, when Navigo Discovery has to start on a Monday.
- Duration. Navigo Discovery lasts 1 to 7 days (even a month if you want), when Paris Visit Pass lasts 1, 2, 3 or 5 days (I wonder why it doesn't last 4 days...).
- Zones. Paris Visit Pass lets you chose between Zones 1 to 3 or Zones 1 to 5. Navigo Discovery lets you chose between all the zones, Zone 2 and 3, 3 and 4 or 4 and 5.
- Picture. If you want Navigo Discovery you'll have to give a photo ID (size : 3 cm x 2,5cm), you want have to give one for Paris Visit Pass.
- Card's price. Besides the cost of the package, you'll have to pay 5€ for Navigo Discovery's card. You won't have to for Paris Visit Pass.
Finally, generally speaking, Navigo Discovery is, for many stays (not all, that would be too easy...) much less expensive than Paris Visit Pass. For example (applicable prices in September of 2018) :
- The price for Navigo Discovery that includes every zones is 22,80€ a week.
- When a Parisi Visit Pass 5 zones for three days costs 53,75€ (26,65€ for three zones)
However be careful, to appreciate the difference, you must consider your day of arrival : if you arrive on a Saturday for a stay of three days, you'll have to pay for Navigo Discovery twice (once for the week of your arrival, once for the week of your departure)...
Finally, both packages have at least one common point : they don't give you access to tourist buses (OpenTour, Cars Rouges...).
You'll have to research it and see which one suits you the best. To conclude, we may say that :
- If you prefer an easy use, Paris Visit Pass might be the one for you ;
- If you prefer lower prices, Navigo Discovery is often (not always...) better.
